Hi friends. Snickerdoodle here, Chief Wellness Officer, professional mood-booster, and enthusiastic believer that tail wags are contagious.
Today’s reminder is a simple one: today is a good day to make someone’s day.
Here’s the secret hoomans sometimes forget, when you do this, you almost always make your own day better too. I see it all the time. A smile shared on a walk. A genuine “thank you.” A quick note that says, “I see you.” My hoomans come back lighter, happier, and standing a little taller. Funny how that works, right?
Making someone’s day doesn’t have to be big or flashy. In fact, the smallest things often matter the most. Here are a few of my favorites:
· Listening without interrupting
· Giving credit where it’s due
· Offering encouragement instead of criticism
· Checking in just because.
Those moments ripple outward. They shift energy. They change how people show up next.
Here’s where my ears perk up. In workplaces, leaders who consistently make someone’s day aren’t being “soft”, they’re being smart.
When people feel valued, they engage more fully and collaborate more willingly. They take ownership and initiative and even show up with trust instead of fear. The best leaders I’ve observed (from my cozy office bed) understand that performance follows people, not the other way around. A culture of appreciation doesn’t distract from results, it fuels them.
And here’s the bonus… doing good feels good.
Science backs this up, but honestly, I don’t need a study. I can see it in wagging tails and relaxed shoulders. When you lift someone else up, your own stress eases. Your perspective widens. Your day softens around the edges. It’s a win-win, which happens to be my favorite kind of math.
Snickerdoodle’s Challenge for Today
Before the day is over, make someone’s day on purpose. Then pause and notice how you feel afterward. Odds are, your heart will be a little fuller… and if you’re lucky, you might even earn a tail wag or two.
Now go on! Today is a very good day to make someone’s day and it’ll make yours better too.
With pawsitive vibes,
Snickerdoodle
