Hi hooman friends! It’s me, Snickerdoodle, your Chief Wellness Officer and professional reminder of what 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 matters.
The holidays are one of my favorite times of year. There are twinkly lights to admire on our walks, extra people in the house to greet (and supervise), and a general feeling in the air that something meaningful is being celebrated. And here’s what this wise pup has noticed…
The holidays mean many different things to different people. They represent faith, tradition, reflection, hope, gratitude, and renewal. They are sacred moments for honoring beliefs that have been passed down for generations and moments for learning about and respecting the beliefs of others. It’s beautiful. It’s part of what makes the season rich and full.
But hooman friends… can we have a gentle paw-on-the-heart moment?
Somewhere between the shopping lists, the schedules, the cooking, the decorating, and the pressure to make everything 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵, I see stress sneaking in. Tails (and shoulders) get tight. Smiles get rushed. And the joy we’re chasing sometimes runs right past us.
From a dog’s point of view, the magic isn’t in the perfection. It’s in the 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲.
It’s in gathering with the people you love - family by birth, family by choice, and those who simply feel like home. It’s in conversations that linger, laughter that bubbles up unexpectedly, quiet moments of reflection, and shared traditions both old and new.
This season invites us to slow down. To honor faith. To cherish connection. And to remember that the greatest gift we give one another is 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲.
So, this holiday season, take a deep breath. Let go of “perfect.” Choose meaningful. Sit a little longer. Hug a little tighter. Laugh a little louder. And make room for what truly matters.
Because from where I’m sitting, curled up near the people I love most, this is what the holidays are really about.
Wishing you peace, joy, and plenty of heart-warming moments,
𝗦𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗿𝗱𝗼𝗼𝗱𝗹𝗲
